These prints represent a range of techniques, and reflect my investigations into the imagery of industrial machinery and mechanical infrastructure.

Though not belonging to any one particular body of work, they comprise a logical progression from my studies as an undergraduate student, to today. My work includes a heavy reliance on hand drawing, and many of my prints originate from thumbnail sketches, full drawings on mylar, or direct drawing on print matrices. Though the technology and techniques exist that would allow me to produce my work with appropriated imagery and direct photographic processes, the presence of the hand remains essential. Drawn imagery is part of an ongoing expression of uncertainty and imperfection when it comes to my interests in those places where human and machine interact and relate: what, how, and why we build; what, how, and why we use.

It is not to say that drawing is the only means by which these ideas can be expressed, simply that it feels like the right way for me to explore them. The inner workings of things are humbling, meditative, and I find that drawing translates the shapes and forms of machinery into something intimate, rather than necessarily cold, destructive, or alien.
